Welcome to PoOFA!

Power of One For All is an Education Non-Profit Organization founded in 2017 to benefit the students of The High School of Fashion Industries in Chelsea, New York City.
Founded by Rosa Isabel Chavez, a Career and Technical Ed. Fashion Design teacher and proud alumni of the class of 1992. She initially founded the non-profit to strictly benefit financially challenged students at the high school, just as she once was. She was responsible for starting the study abroad program in 2012 that has sent over 95 NYC high school students to Florence, Italy.

In 2022 the non-profit chose to close all existing programs. That is when the aim to focus solely on gifting students with sewing machines began!

During COVID, she realized that the equipment most students utilized were at the school-serving no purpose to the students that could not afford a sewing machine to further their major. It was then decided that moving forward all initiatives would be focused towards gifting students everywhere, not just HSFI, with sewing machines. The goal is to grant 150 eligible students with sewing machines annually. Moving with what is relevant to the times, PoOFA felt this mission is what would be most vital for the tailors of tomorrow.

The High School of Fashion Industries is a Title 1 NYC public high school.
The basic principle of Title 1 is classified as a school with a large concentration of low-income students who receive supplemental funds to assist in meeting their educational goals.

Our Education Non-Profit has curated a scholastic year award program which consists of Two Academic Merit Based Scholarships AND our Annual PRIDE AWARD, to celebrate our diverse student population. Representation is important to them making it crucial for us.
